Anti-proliferative Effect of Satureja sahandica Extraction by Co-administration of Layered Double Hydroxide (LDH) Nanosheets on HepG2 Hepatocellular Carcinoma Cell Line

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common solid tumor and the third cause of cancer death worldwide. Resistance to chemotherapeutic drugs serious challenge in treatment HCC. To address this challenge, therefore, attempts have been made develop novel anticancer agents by using medicinal plants producing natural chemical compounds. Objectives: This study aimed investigate anti-proliferative effect Satureja sahandica extraction combined with layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanosheets on HepG2 HCC cell line. Methods: The effects S. LDH line were investigated adopting MTT method. morphological alterations, migration, apoptosis rates also evaluated treated cells. apoptosis-related genes mRNA expressions (BAX BCL2) examined performing real-time PCR. Results: According results, treatments significantly decreased viability proliferation HepG2. However, activity nanosheet combination was less than its monotherapy. Various alterations increased migration rate cells decreased. Furthermore, BAX BCL2 upregulated downregulated, respectively.
